The Foundation received 1052 pdf's of all 1917-1919 RAIVAAJA's last week.  I ran a word search for "influenssa" and got 17 hits on the Spanish Flu pandemic.  (It nearly killed my grandparents and father. Losses at Camp Devens were horrific.)

Stockholm, Sept. 18th - Sweden in experiencing in frightening quantities the spread of the so called "Spanish influenza" which experts say is quite different than the flu and which a couple of months ago appeared in large numbers in the Scandinavian countries.

A dangerous feature of this disease is that a person can catch it several times, so one is not immune to it even if one already has suffered from it.

This new spreading is showing up first in schools and the army. On Saturday 1,500 cases were reported at the Borden citadel and 15 have died from it. Especially in the countryside the disease spreads easily.

A few days ago there were 868 cases and 20 deaths at the Norrbotten regimen alone. Doctors were quickly dispatched to the north from Stockholm.

The situation is the same in Norway, especially in Trondheim, where movie theaters are closed and all public gatherings are forbidden. There are hundreds of cases and several deaths.
